Erin H Kim | AMFT

Associate Marriage & Family Therapist  #160595

EMDR & EFT therapy for individuals struggling with anxiety, shame, and relational wounds.

You don’t have to navigate the weight of overthinking and disconnection alone. Whether you are struggling with low self-esteem, anxiety, or the lingering impact of past experiences, it’s common to feel "stuck" in cycles that feel impossible to break. Often, these feelings are rooted in relational wounds, family conflict, or traumatic events that continue to impact your daily life and sense of self.

Clinical Approach

Erin’s work is deeply aligned with the attachment-based and emotionally focused approach at Behold Counseling. She specializes in helping clients move beyond surface-level symptoms to understand the emotional patterns underneath.

Erin uniquely integrates EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) with EFT. This combination allows her to help clients process traumatic memories while simultaneously building the emotional security needed to improve their current relationships.

Who Erin Works With

Erin is an ideal fit for individuals and families looking to break cycles of emotional overwhelm and shame. Her practice focuses on:

  • Young Adults & Professionals: Navigating the "not good enough" inner critic, academic stress, and the pressure to perform while feeling internally anxious.

  • Individuals Healing from Trauma: Using EMDR to address PTSD, childhood wounds, and relational trauma that shows up as "shutdown" or reactivity in the present.

  • Children & Adolescents: Helping younger clients and their families navigate bullying, family transitions, and the emotional intensity of growing up in a high-pressure world.

  • Breaking Intergenerational Patterns: Supporting those who are beginning to recognize how family conflict and cultural expectations have shaped their self-worth.

Cultural Background

As a Korean American therapist, I am deeply attuned to the Asian American experience, particularly being raised in immigrant or multicultural households. I understand the complexity of navigating language and cultural barriers within a family system as well.

These experiences can shape how we view ourselves, our relationships, and our boundaries. In therapy, I hope to work together to navigate the healing journey with these cultural nuances in mind.

Faith & Spirituality

Faith can be an important agent of healing for some, while for others it may be the root of trauma and hurt.

If you would like to integrate faith into our sessions, I welcome the work of the Spirit into our work together. The secure love and abundant grace of God can be a comfort to believers throughout their therapy journey.

At the same time, I understand that religion can be a complicated topic for many people. I provide a safe space for clients who may have experienced hurt or confusion from religious environments and allow the client to initiate the integration of faith into our sessions if they would like.

Therapy is a place where you can openly share your beliefs, doubts, and wrestlings without fear of judgment.

Considering Therapy

If you have been considering seeking therapy but feel unsure of where to start, I would be honored to walk alongside you.

Beginning therapy can bring up many different feelings, and you do not have to navigate those feelings alone. When you are ready to begin, I look forward to meeting with you.
