Marriage & Family Therapy

Kelley Kuit | LMFT
Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist #139895
Emotionally Focused Therapy for relationships, depression, grief, and intergenerational trauma.
You look like you have it together—but inside, something feels off. You replay conversations, feel stuck in the same conflicts, or carry the pressure to hold everything together. Over time, this leads to disconnection—not just from your relationships, but from yourself. Whether you are navigating a persistent cloud of depression, the disorienting weight of grief, or the complex "invisible inheritance" of intergenerational trauma, you don't have to carry the silence alone.

Together, we slow things down, understand these patterns, and find new ways forward.

My Approach
My clinical work is grounded in Attachment Theory and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT). I also incorporate somatic and nervous system awareness, helping you understand how emotions live in the body—not just the mind.

When we address intergenerational and cultural issues, we explore your "Family Blueprint." We look at the survival strategies passed down through generations and how they might still be impacting your boundaries, guilt, and sense of self today. In the face of grief and loss, my goal is to create a steady, honest space where we can expand your capacity for difficult emotions without rushing the process.

Who I Work With
I work with adults and couples who are looking for meaningful and lasting change, not just temporary relief. My clients often include:

-
High-Achievers & Professionals: Those who appear composed on the outside but feel internally anxious, disconnected, or overwhelmed by the "perfect" facade.
-
Individuals Healing from Loss & Depression: Those navigating the heavy, non-linear seasons of grief or feeling "stuck" in recurring patterns of low energy and hopelessness.
-
Healing from Trauma: Including sexual assault, relational wounds, and attachment patterns that keep you stuck in painful pursue–withdraw cycles.
-
Christians & People of Faith: Creating a space where emotional honesty, psychological health, and your spiritual beliefs can exist together in a meaningful way.
-
Adult Children of Immigrant Families: Navigating the cultural gap, balancing independence with family loyalty, and breaking cycles of intergenerational trauma.

Clinical Focus

-
Depression & Emotional Vitality: Moving from "going through the motions" to feeling steady and connected.
-
Grief, Loss, & Life Transitions: Navigating the messy reality of losing people, roles, or identities.
-
Relational Dynamics: Understanding attachment patterns and shifting recurring conflict into secure connection.
-
Intergenerational Trauma: Addressing the "invisible inheritance" of family patterns and systemic wounds.
-
Cultural Identity & Boundaries: Working through the guilt and people-pleasing that often stem from high-pressure family expectations.

Faith & Emotional Health
For some, faith is a source of support; for others, it carries pain or tension. Both are welcome, and clients can choose to incorporate their Christian faith into our work or address wounds from past faith experiences.

My goal is not to offer spiritual correction, but to create space where emotional honesty, psychological health, and faith can exist together in a meaningful way.

Why I Do This Work

My interest in therapy is shaped not only by my professional training, but also by my own experience in the counseling process.

Like many of the clients I work with, I have known what it feels like to carry responsibility while quietly struggling beneath the surface. I understand the unique weight of honoring one's family and heritage while navigating the deep, often unspoken layers of grief and inherited patterns. Experiencing therapy myself—both individually and within my own marriage—has deeply influenced the way I approach this work.

Those experiences continue to remind me that meaningful change rarely happens through insight alone. It happens through relationships that are honest, steady, and emotionally safe enough for people to explore difficult parts of their lives.

That understanding continues to shape the way I show up with the people I work with every day.
