About Behold Counseling

Behold Counseling grew out of a simple recognition: many people are carrying far more than others can see.

From the outside, life may appear steady. Responsibilities are being met, work continues, and relationships are maintained. Yet internally there may be anxiety, relational strain, emotional exhaustion, or a quiet sense of disconnection that is difficult to put into words.

Therapy offers space to slow down and look more carefully at what may be happening beneath the surface. The work is often less about quickly fixing problems and more about understanding the emotional and relational patterns that may have been shaping someone’s life for years.

At Behold Counseling, our therapists work with individuals and couples who are ready to approach these questions with honesty and curiosity. While each clinician brings their own training and perspective, we share a commitment to therapy that is thoughtful, relational, and attentive to the complexity of people’s lives.

The Meaning Behind the Name

The name Behold Counseling comes from a passage in Scripture that has quietly shaped the way I think about change and healing.

“Remember not the former things, nor consider the things of old.
Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it?”
— Isaiah 43:18–19 (ESV)

There is something striking in that invitation—to pause long enough to notice that something new may already be unfolding.

Many people come to therapy carrying experiences that have shaped them deeply: family patterns, relational wounds, disappointments, or expectations they learned to carry long ago. These experiences deserve to be understood honestly.

At the same time, they do not have to determine the whole story.

Part of the work of therapy is learning to slow down and see our lives more clearly—what has shaped us, what we have carried, and what may still be possible moving forward.

Our Approach

Therapy at Behold Counseling is approached with care, patience, and a respect for how complex people’s lives really are.

Rather than focusing only on symptoms, our work often begins by slowing down enough to understand what may be shaping someone’s emotional and relational life. Anxiety, conflict, or disconnection rarely appear in isolation. They often grow out of experiences and relationships that have developed over many years.

Our therapists draw from a range of clinical approaches, including Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and Internal Family Systems (IFS). These approaches help people process difficult experiences, understand emotional patterns more clearly, and develop new ways of relating to themselves and others.

We also pay attention to how emotional experiences are felt in the body. Practices such as mindfulness and nervous system awareness can help clients recognize their internal responses with greater clarity and steadiness.

While each therapist brings their own perspective and areas of training, the work across the practice is grounded in thoughtful, relational therapy that takes people’s stories seriously and allows change to unfold at a meaningful pace.

Our Values

Thoughtfulness

We believe therapy should be approached carefully and with humility. People’s stories deserve time, attention, and respect.

Emotional Honesty

Meaningful change often begins when people feel safe enough to acknowledge what they are actually experiencing—whether that involves anxiety, grief, anger, shame, or confusion.

Relational Understanding

Many of the ways we experience ourselves and others are shaped in relationship. Therapy offers an opportunity to understand these patterns and develop healthier ways of connecting.

Cultural Awareness

Family systems, culture, and personal history shape how people understand themselves and the world around them. Our work remains attentive to these influences and the different contexts each client brings.

Faith & Spiritual Sensitivity

For some people, faith is an important source of meaning and support. For others, it may carry complexity or pain. We approach these conversations with care, allowing clients to determine if and how their spiritual life becomes part of the work.
